This fall the South Slough Reserve is recruiting for one GIS Monitoring Intern. The expected duration of this internship is 10 weeks from late September/early October through early December, with 20-30 hours work per week for a total of 250 hours. Duties & Responsibilities:
Working Conditions: The intern will spend most of their time with the science team, of which 80% will be preparing for, implementing, and cleaning up after field outings. The remainder of the time will be spent in office and lab work including entering data, downloading, and calibrating data collection instruments, maintaining field gear, and analyzing data. The science team is made up of South Slough scientists and seasonal interns and fosters a supportive, collaborative environment. A valid driver's license and the ability to drive is required. Additional Information: Housing is available for this internship. The Spruce Ranch residential structure includes two bedrooms (one with a full-size bed and one with two twin beds), two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and two social/living areas. There is a large deck. The house is fully accessible. While rustic and simply furnished, the house is comfortable. Spruce Ranch is rural and somewhat isolated. It is on a two-lane road, which has many blind corners and short distance sight issues. Spruce Ranch is about a 10-minute drive from the science lab and offices.
