Job Summary for Recruitment: Assist the Nez Perce Tribe with management and analysis on all aspects of geospatial data for various research projects. This means the candidate will analyze and advise on appropriate data sources such as vector and raster data, aerial imagery and global positioning systems (GPS). Duties will also include the creation of cartographic maps of the area(s) being studied. Additionally, the job most-likely will require project leadership in the form of field project planning, programming and field study training. Knowledge and experience with Geographic Information Systems, GPS software and hardware are required. Web mapping experience is desired. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in the Natural Resources or Geography fields or similar with a minor or emphasis in GIS, 1-year data processing experience with GIS software; computer hardware and software experience relevant to creating procedural documents and reports; data maintenance and storage desirable. This position will be stationed in Lapwai, ID. This position requires a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured under the Tribe's Policy. Specific Job Requirements/Credentials: Qualifications require a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in the fields of Natural Resources or Geography with a minor or emphasis in GIS. At least 1-year related professional level experience preferred with computer hardware and software experience relevant to creating and maintaining spatial data, information and procedural documents and reports. Also would prefer previous experience working with Native American programs. Valid driver’s license with good driving record required. |
