Job Summary Under the direct supervision of the GIS supervisor, perform complex technical duties to support geographic information systems (GIS) in the Public Works department. Work across all disciplines in Public Works to identify and document GIS business needs, then work with the appropriate GIS staff to develop workflows, tools, software solutions, and processes that meet those needs. Develop documentation and metadata for all processes, maps and data that Public Works GIS produces. Develop tools, databases, layers, publish map services, and automation processes to help improve efficiencies, data quality and workflows. Oversee the field data collection program for all disciplines within Public Works. Assist with the implementation of asset management and Public Works wide initiatives including improved capital planning, key performance metrics analysis, and meeting Council priorities. Act as a liaison/bridge between various divisions and departments such as engineering/design, IT (Information Technology), Utility Billing, Operations and Maintenance, Construction Services, Engineering, and Community Development, and Economic Prosperity and Housing.
