The GIS Intern will be involved in various GIS projects. Duties include creating/editing GIS layers for all city-approved GIS projects. Other internship duties may include writing reports and using GIS in a municipal government environment. Position requires basic-to-intermediate knowledge of GIS software. Education, Experience and Other Requirements: Must have experience developing and editing data in ESRI Geodatabase format and developing metadata for GIS datasets. Must be public service oriented. Public Works - Wilsonville, OR Internship - $15.00 Hourly Category: Public Works Department: Public Works Position Overview The City of Wilsonville GIS and Public Works departments are seeking candidates for a short term internship to perform asset inventory activities for the City. The candidates will be responsible for gathering field based data for various City assets. This will be performed using the City's GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS) and Cartègraph, the City's enterprise asset management system. In this position, the candidates will have the opportunity to work closely with the City's GIS Manager, Asset Management Coordinator as well staff in the Public Works department. The candidate will help to develop the work plan and daily schedule that best meets the goals for the project. Qualifications Ideal candidates will have strong computer skills including data entry, database use, and experience reading construction and as-built plans. Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is also desired. Some experience using Cartègraph or other asset management programs would be ideal. (ASAP) – Corvallis, OR.
E&S Environmental Chemistry, Inc. has an internship position available to assist with spatial data analysis, mapping, and water quality sampling fieldwork. The fieldwork can occur up to a 5-hour drive from Corvallis with a typical duration/frequency of two consecutive nights once per month. Expected duration is 2 – 6 months. The work schedule would be generally flexible at 10 – 20 per hours week. Fieldwork can be performed on weekends if desirable. We envision filling this position with someone who has (or has nearly) completed a degree related to geoscience and would like to work in Corvallis for the foreseeable future. There is good potential that this position could turn into full-time employment with E&S. As the GIS Tech Intern, you’ll provide support to existing GIS staff by performing entry level spatial data query, display, manipulation, and update tasks. Develop complex queries to identify data update opportunities. Understand electric system connectivity rules inherent in the GIS data model. Interpret design and construction drawings and performing GIS data updates accordingly. Create clear cartographic displays of complex electrical system features in a mapping environment.
