Applications are open to the Portland State University Center for Climate and Aerosol Research REU program in summer 2022.
The program, sponsored by the National Science Foundation, is focused on undergraduate student conducted research projects related to climate and atmospheric sciences. The REU is designed for students majoring in the natural & physical sciences but students are not expected to have a background in climate or atmospheric science. PSU supports a diverse community of scholars and this REU strongly encourages Indigenous and rural Northwest student applicants. They also seek to recruit students from community colleges and other small regional colleges. Application information for summer 2022 can be found at our homepage: https://www.pdx.edu/center-climate-aerosol-research/reu We are making every effort for the 2022 Summer CCAR REU program to be on-campus at PSU this year. Please feel free to direct questions about the PSU CCAR REU program to Andrew Rice ([email protected]). Students will get some real world experience in using ArcGIS applications like Collector and Field Maps to collect ecological data on tablets and transmitting the data to our lab. This often requires some prep work in using ArcGIS Online web maps and other map sources (e.g., onX) for trip planning, but also troubleshooting when the apps aren’t cooperating and having to use other tools, i.e., a map and compass or GPS to navigate.
