Duties: The majority of the work under this recruitment will be scanning, georectifying and digitizing of historic real estate maps related to Corps of Engineers flood control and power generation facilities and populating a geodatabase of real estate information. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Duty Location: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Portland District Headquarters (SW 1st & Oak). Experience: Experience with ArcGIS software, geodatabase design, and vectorization of scanned maps is a plus but not a requirement. Appropriate training will be provided to a motivated candidate lacking prior experience. Hours: This is a part-time position (16-20 hours per week) not to exceed 1 year with flexible hours to accommodate a student's class schedule. Students will have the option to work additional hours, up to 40 hours per week, during summer months. Salary: $12.59/hour for undergraduates, $14.14/hour for graduates. The GIS Analyst position requires at least a B.S. in geography, geology, environmental science, or related field and completion of relevant college level courses or training in GIS. Responsibilities of this position include support in the areas of data QA/QC to discover inconsistencies, and other anomalies in spatial data and performing data cleansing activities to improve the data quality, data management, spatial analysis, and map production. Additional duties may include general technical support (spreadsheet work and calculations). Candidates must have strong knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS version 10 software suite, MS Office (particularly Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and familiarity with relational databases (MS Access).
